THE AUSSIE DREAM

Mis à jour : 3 oct 2018

Hi guys! Well, it’s been a little while. I haven’t been writing… I hope you're spending great holidays wherever you are. For those who didn’t read the latest article, I had to study like Dan Humphrey because I took my eleventh grade final exams aka « french baccalaureate ». The baccalaureate in France, for you guys who are from abroad, is divided in two parts. The first one is done at the end of the eleventh grade and we’re taking french and biology. The second one is about history, philosophy, languages, and arts. I got my results and they’re pretty good actually. Anyway, I’m sooo happy to be back, because I’ve been planning this article for a long long time now. It’s at least a bittersweet feeling to be back. This article is not just an article…it’s the opening of a new part of the blog, and I guess you know which one. I told you I had a surprise for you, so I guess it’s time to cut the red ribbon. If you know me, you know that I love traveling and I want to be a travel and fashion blogger. Well, I’ve created a new category called TRAVEL on Califorjay where I’m gonna talk about my travels. Can I create a new category without traveling ? Obviously not ! If I’ve waited so long to post another article, it was because I didn’t want to talk about a previous trip; I wanted to talk about a special and notable trip. A trip to remember, a trip to tell my family and friends about, a trip I would describe as one of the best of my life. Well, I guess you understand how important it was for me to look for a the best place to go in order to live the trip.

That’s why I went on a long and fastidiously exhaustive journey where I I spent over twenty two hours in a plane, to reach the land of kangaroos and koalas. I went to Australia last month in order to improve my english. I chose this destination because I wanted to discover another country where I had never been before, and see the Great Barrier Reef as well. I’ve always wanted to see this coral reef since I saw Nemo, the little clownfish who get lost in the ocean. It was like a goal in my life. I mean I saw those pictures in my school books and I said to myself « those corals are so colored and this landscape is so beautiful, you have to go see it for real ! » I left with an educational organization called Education First, the best on the market. We were led by their activity leaders called Tasha ( manager ) Calum ( activity leader from New Zealand ) Paul ( Norway ) Gorca ( Spain ) Laurie ( Franch ) and others. We weren’t really on holiday, we had a schedule we had to respect. I had class either in the morning or in the afternoon according to what I had the day before. Many activities were planned such as city tours, a pool party, a beach day, quizzes, 100-50 tasks with teams, sports… and the optionals. I signed up for a railway in the Kuranda Rainforest and a dive in the Great Barrier Reef. It was one of the best experiences in my life. I can’t believe I actually dived in one of the seven wonders of the world! It is like a huge titanic multicolored garden. Did you know that the Great Barrier Reef is part of the protected areas of the UNESCO? I also attended an aboriginal festival, where those people from the forest and the most wilderness way of life came, singing and dancing. They are dark skinned, and painted in yellow, white, blue, green, red, and brown mostly. My friends and I played a game and got our faces painted. We had dozens of colored dots on our faces. The aboriginal art is so wild and simple, I loved it. They draw tons of colored dots on they works. In the hotel where we’re studying, there’s a frame made with a tree trunk that they polished and painted in order to get a kind of aztec representation. It is a really beautiful artwork. According to them, colors are meaningful. Yellow means the sun, black means the earth, blue means the water, and red, the people. I also visited Sydney. It is a great city, with a reminder of London and New York City through the architecture. If there are a few red brick buildings, reminding London, the glass and imposing skyscrapers are from New Yorker’s architecture. I liked it, because I’ve never been to NYC before, and it can give me an opinion about how’s the Big Apple’s like.

Another group of french people came a week after us. New people means new friends, and more fun. It was great to make new friends. Friends to keep in touch with. This summer, I thought that I would finally and totally go through my shyness and the fact I don’t talk too much. Before I came in Australia, I started to finally feel confident with myself, and I started to finally feel free and good in my element. This feeling progressively increased as days were going on. I’m becoming the person I want to be. I want to be confident and take the whole control over myself. I want to be free of all this shyness that I felt and which made me stay away from others for over five years now. Yes, I had shyness issues in the past. Now, I feel it’s about to be over forever. I hoped this trip to be amazing, and I have to confess it was more than amazing. It was the trip ! I didn’t want it to end, because I felt free. Free from my fear, free from my parents, free from everything. I didn’t want to leave because I got to speak English everyday in order to communicate with others, and because I met really nice people who I felt good with. Furthermore, I didn’t want to leave especially because I had a crush on some guy. Yes, summer is also said to be the an aphrodisiac period when we should find love. Summer means for some people beach, palm trees, salty water, hotness, sensuality, love at first sight, the blinding sun… I actually fell under this Venusian trap. Aphrodite has been holding something for me for weeks until this summer. She promised me that my heart would be touched by someone. I fell under the charm of some guy from my group. This, is another story that I’m gonna keep a few more time, and might share with you someday.

have learned many things from this trip. However, the most important thing to be remembered is of course love and friendship, but also to enjoy the most beautiful moments of this paradisiac trip. For now, I’d like to share with you guys a few photos taken out there that I gathered into a video available on Youtube. Hope you'll enjoy it and I wish you all to spend a great end of summer vacation !
